On what started as a normal day, our lives changed in an instant. During a high speed chase involving the Independence, MO police department and another vehicle, my husband, our two friends, and I were struck by a car fleeing from the police. The impact was so severe that our car flipped numerous times, leaving us trapped inside. Emergency crews had to cut 3 of us out of the wreckage, while the driver responsible ran from the scene on foot.

My husband was the first to be taken away by ambulance. When I arrived at the hospital, I learned the extent of his injuries: a brain bleed, a broken femur, a clot in his neck, detached abdominal muscles, broken hip bones, and several injuries to his back and spine. The road to recovery will be long and difficult, but we are grateful that he is still with us.

My husband is a loving man who always helps others a devoted son, father, husband, and friend.
