Hi everyone, my name is Jazzmine and I’m fundraising for the people affected by the devastating natural disasters that have recently struck Cebu City, my hometown.
On October 1st, Cebu was hit by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake that damaged homes, hospitals, schools, and churches, impacting over 170,000 people. Many families were left displaced, without stable shelter, food, or access to clean water. Before the community could even begin to recover, another disaster struck.
On November 4th, a powerful typhoon brought torrential rains and severe flooding, submerging entire towns. In some areas, the water reached neck-deep levels, and in others, it rose high enough to cover entire houses. Countless families lost everything, their homes, belongings, food, clean water, and electricity. Many are now left with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing.
My sister, who arrived in Cebu just before the storm, has been helping clean up our town and distributing what she can to those in need. The funds raised will go directly toward:
• Purchasing food and clean water
• Cooking and distributing hot meals
• Providing clothes and basic supplies
• Supporting local cleanup and recovery efforts
For those who know me, you know I don’t usually speak out about things like this, and I rarely ask for help. I’m so in distraught to my community, and the place I call home face so much loss and hardship. Families were still trying to recover from the earthquake when this flood took away whatever little they had left.
The main highway to the city has been cut off by landslides, leaving many towns isolated and still waiting for aid to arrive.
Any amount you can give will make a meaningful difference and help bring relief to families who need it most. Even if you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support for the people of Cebu.
