The Selfless Hero We All Can Be

Rest in Peace my grandpa, I love you so much.

I have to share your story with the world because though you were not a hero for everyone, you were the selfless hero for your family that we all could/should be for our own family. If everyone were as half as selfless as you, the amount of greed would dramatically decrease and compassion would significantly increase. Let me explain.

During my childhood, you put a roof over my head, my sister, two brothers, my dad, my mom ( your daughter), my aunt ( your daughter), my uncle ( your son), and my grandma ( your beloved wife). Additionally each one of my siblings and I all wanted pets, so you housed 12 dog, 3 chickens, 9 Rabbits, 2 love birds, a handful of fish, 2 guinea pigs, and a hamster. Each area in your house was completely occupied and you choose to put others first so we can live together in your home. You saved us grandpa.

The amount of support you provided kept us all in your home till the day you left us at 88 years old. Some quick facts: you never asked me for a single dollar in my 31 years of living with you. You only asked me for one thing, to take care of your beloved wife. The love you had for Grandma is the true meaning of love, in sickness, in health, for better or for worse, and as long as you live. When you first met my Grandma she must have been the most beautiful women you have ever met because no matter how much she aged, physically, mentally, or in any other way you cared about her till the day you left.

Grandpa the last time we spoke I told you: “I finished making Grandma’s food” and asked if you wanted some. You told me “ I’m ok, and that’s good, thank you”. You thanked me for taking care of grandma and I thank you .

I don’t care that the United States has leveraged funeral’s billion dollar industry against us, you deserve a funeral service to be laid to rest with your mom who loved you very much my great grandma (Mama Fina).

So I am here now asking for any contribution for an honorable man, the type of man that every household needs . No matter how big the contribution is even if it’s prayers. Thank you so much , in honor of my grandpa. Rest in peace, the selfless hero. Love your grandpa.
