Support my grandmother, Blanca

Hello, my name is Leomary and I am one of my grandmothers, Blanca, grandchildren. My grandmother is kind, patient, selfless, a woman of faith and loved by everyone. For as a long as I remember, she’s always been very independent and seeing her in these conditions, where she is no longer able to do things for herself, is truly heart breaking.On February 4th, my grandmother, Blanca Vargas Fernandez, suffered from a stroke and was found unconscious in her home in the Dominican Republic. My grandmother suffered severe damaged to the left hemisphere of her brain, affecting the motor functions of the right side of her body and unable to verbally communicate with us anymore. She is bed bound and requires 24/7 attention and care. Before being discharged from the hospital, her doctor informed my family that she may only have a few days left to live. However, with the abundance of care that she has received from her family members who traveled to see her and prayers, she is luckily still here today. We would like to fly my grandmother out to New York, where all of her family reside, where the health care system is much more advance and where we know she will receive better medical attention. A 2nd opinion within the healthcare system is crucial and for my grandmother, it could be life changing. With your help, donations will go to the medical travel expenses to bring my grandmother to New York, PEG surgery, physical therapy, speech therapy, and her ongoing medical care. Mi abuela es amable, paciente, una mujer de fe y querida por todos. Desde que tengo memoria, siempre ha sido muy independiente y verla en estas condiciones, en las que ya no puede hacer las cosas por sí misma, es realmente angustioso.  El 4 de Febrero, mi abuela, Blanca Vargas Fernández, sufrió un derrame cerebral y fue encontrada inconsciente en su casa en la República Dominicana. Mi abuela sufrió daños graves en el hemisferio izquierdo de su cerebro, lo que afectó las funciones motoras del lado derecho de su cuerpo y no puede  comunicarse verbalmente con nosotros. Ella requiere atención y cuidado las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana. Antes de ser dada de alta del hospital, su médico le informó a mi familia que es posible que solo le queden unos pocos días de vida. Sin embargo, con la abundancia de atención que ha recibido de los miembros de su familia que viajaron para verla y las oraciones, afortunadamente todavía está aquí hoy.   Nos gustaría llevar a mi abuela a Nueva York, donde reside toda su familia, donde el sistema de atención médica es mucho más avanzado y donde sabemos que recibirá mejor atención médica. Una segunda opinión dentro del sistema de salud es crucial y para mi abuela, podría cambiarle la vida. Con su ayuda, las donaciones se destinarán a los gastos de viaje médico para traer a mi abuela a Nueva York, cirugía PEG, terapia física, terapia del lenguaje y su atención médica continua.
