Support my grandma Encarnacion's neurosurgery recovery

My name is Princess, and I am the granddaughter of Encarnacion "Ciony" Verdadero. I am 21 years old and a full time college student. My mom is a single mom who works hard to provide for our family needs.

My grandma came to Canada in January 2026 for vacation and is staying with my mom and I until July. She has been here for 2 months and unfortunately slipped in the bathtub and got a brain injury. I grew up with my grandma in the Philippines, and she has been taking care of me ever since I was born. My grandma means the world to me, she has always been there for me whenever i needed her. She is a loving grandmother to all her grand children and family members. It hurts us so much to see her in her current state.

On March 14th 2026, my grandma was taking a shower and then I suddenly heard a thud. I called my grandma 2 times and there was no answer. So I rushed to the bathroom to check in on her. I found her in the bathtub, I tried to ask her if she was okay trying to get an answer however she was unresponsive. Since she was still unresponsive I called my mom while at the same time trying to get a hold of 911. While I was on the phone with 911, my mom was performing first aid on my grandma until the paramedics arrived. Once they arrived they asked what happened and immediately assessed my grandma. The paramedics suspected that she had a stroke so they rushed her to Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH). At RCH they instantly brought her to do a CT scan. The doctor read the results and saw that she had an internal hemorrhage on the left side of her brain. They didnt have any available doctor at RCH to perform a procedure that would stop the bleeding. So they moved her to Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), and ran another CT scan on my grandma. VGH found out that she had an aneurysm on the right side of her brain. When my mom and I reached VGH, the doctor was waiting for us and told us that they needed to perform the surgery right away. The neurosurgeon told us that they needed to do three things: they have to remove the aneurysm, treat the internal hemorrhage on the left side, and clip the right carotid artery to stop blood from flowing to the head to avoid stroke. The surgery lasted for 7 hours. After the surgery, my grandma got moved to neuro ICU for recovery and monitoring. She has a tube in her head that is draining fluid from the brain that nurses are keeping an eye on and keep track of on how much fluid is getting drained.

My grandma has been in the neuro ICU for 5 days now and all of her insurance has been used up already. As of March 20th, 2026 the total balance owing is $116,086.46. This means that all of the expenses from now and onwards will not be covered by the travel insurance. We still do not know when she will be discharged from the hospital as she is still under observation for her brain surgery recovery.

I would like to ask for your kindess and generosity, any amount is appreciated.

Thank you,
Princess
