Hello, my name is Charlotte Granddaughter of 88 year old Jack Wroe.
Yesterday afternoon, our family experienced something no one could ever imagine.
While cooking in his flat in Goldthorpe, my grandad’s home was tragically destroyed by a fire. Thankfully, he survived, but he has lost almost everything he owned.
My grandad is a proud, kind and honourable man who has always done his best despite living with a disability that means he is unable to walk. His home wasn’t just where he lived it was his safe place, carefully adapted around his needs. In a matter of minutes, he lost everything.
Sadly, he had no contents insurance, meaning all of his personal belongings, furniture, clothing, electrical items, sentimental possessions and everyday essentials will need replacing.
We have already been overwhelmed by the kindness of our local community. The messages, offers of help and donations have reminded us just how incredible people can be during the darkest of times. We are so grateful to everyone who has reached out.
As a family, asking for financial help is something we never imagined we’d have to do. It has taken a great deal for us to create this page, and we’re saddened that circumstances have brought us here.
Many people have asked how they can help, so we have created this page. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go directly towards helping my grandad replace the essentials he has lost and begin rebuilding his life after this devastating event.
If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity and support during such a difficult time.
