My best friend has always stood up for what’s right, and yesterday was no exception. She attended a nonviolent protest at the ICE detention center in Aurora, Colorado, determined to make her voice heard for justice and compassion. As she was walking back from the protest, she exchanged words with an employee who works for ICE. Despite being across the street and walking away, the employee shot her in the foot, leaving her injured and facing a difficult road ahead.
She is now recovering from her injuries, and the aftermath has brought unexpected challenges. Medical bills are piling up, she’s unable to work while she heals, and there are legal fees as she seeks justice for what happened. The financial strain is overwhelming, and she needs support from the community to help her get through this.
She has been with me through so much, always right by my side. She’s one of the best people I know, with the biggest heart, always fighting for what’s right and good. That’s what she was doing yesterday—fighting for good. And she got shot for it. I’m asking for your help to support her recovery and stand with her in this fight. Abolish ICE.
