I try not to complain about my health, beyond commiserating with those who share my pain. Mainly because there’s nothing most people can do to help. But, this situation is different.

I am Oxygen dependent. I have to be on 4 liters of 02 constantly 24 hours a day. That’s a lot and I’m looking at 5. Without it I pass out and go into heart failure, my body shuts down and I die. I’ve actually done this 3 times and came back. What can I say? I’m resilient. So, you should be warned I am a Zombie. I will eat your brains or at least pick at them.

So, my problem is an all too common problem, namely insurance. I’m qualified for a portable battery powered oxygen concentrator. This would allow me the freedom to go places, see bands play, and basically enjoy life.

Right now, I have to lug around these heavy oxygen bottles, that only last a couple of hours. They are very uncomfortable to use because I have to breathe in to get air to come out of them, and that’s barely enough to keep me going. I get tired fast and it’s hard to talk. A portable concentrator delivers a constant stream of oxygen to me. So, I don’t have to consciously breathe in and I can relax.

As you may have guessed, what I’m leading up. My insurance won’t cover a portable O2 concentrator. I need about a $2,000 bucks to get everything I need. That’s just too much for me to afford.
