I’m running the Flawed Hero Marathon in Letchworth Garden City, starting at midnight on 25 April 2026. Charities this year are Prostate Cancer UK and Garden House Hospice.
The Flawed Hero movement recognises none of us are athletes with the time for a totally unchallenged training plan. 16x1.6mi laps entirely in darkness, through the night, will be about working towards a goal quietly and consistently. By sunrise we will all have a marathon medal…before London even kicks off.
Personally, two powerful reasons are getting hit by a careless motorist in May last year - exercise initially taken away from me, then key to recovering so quickly. Shortly after, I lost my father in law, Keith to pancreatic cancer.
I have a decade-plus cycling cardio engine, with 2 years of 3x weekly gym cross-training and 9 months track intervals tuning….but have a low boredom threshold and never run a marathon before. I signed up precisely because it was something I wasn’t sure I could - but definitely should - do.
300 of us are running, not to chase a time but show up as we are, move with purpose and support a cause that matters. Support, in any form, reminds people they’re not alone and they are enough. Thank you for standing with us.
Supporters in person very welcome…but I bet you won’t; prove me wrong!
