Support the first-ever Anthology of Bi Erotica

Hello. My name is Christian Pan, and I´m a writer. Since 2021, I have published over 100 short stories on my website, as well as 15 books, and had my work included in four different anthologies. I also write book reviews, film reviews, conduct artist interviews; am a contributing writer for a couple of online platforms; host an author-interview segment for a monthly podcast; and for the past couple of years moderated a group for other LGBTQ+ creatives to pool resources, share skills, and build community.

Much of my fiction features characters who identify as bisexual, in an attempt to increase representation of people like myself. According to the most recent Gallup poll , 7.6% of adult Americans identify as being a part of the LGBTQ+ community, with 3/5 of those polled saying they identify as bi. And yet, this population remains an "invisible majority". While it´s been heartening to a few more memoirs or non-fiction titles in the past couple of years by openly bi people, I was disappointed to find so little fiction by bi folks. There have been numerous anthologies with multiple volumes featuring fiction by gay, lesbian, or trans authors, so why can´t there be one by bi authors about our own experience? Where are the bi stories?

Inspired by seeing other peers of mine edit and organize their own anthologies (in particular, Olivia Lawless and Rachel Kramer Bussel ), I´ve decided to create my organize my own anthology. I organized a call for submissions, and spent 3 months soliciting entries. I got an amazing array of writers to submit their work, showcasing a wide range of style, perspective, and honesty. I am both humbled and inspired by all of the stories that will be included in this collection, which I am going to call The Best Bi Erotica of the Year, Vol. 1. This anthology will be available in print and as an ebook on 23 September (Bi Visibility Day ).

To do this, I need your help.

As an author who is largely self-published, I write largely as a calling--my profits from book sales and my monthly Patreon subscribers does not equal a full-time income. However, there are some unavoidable minimal costs--from book formatting and editing of the final manuscript, to paying each of the 14 contributing authors a small fee. Based on my experience of publishing my previous books, I need $850 to cover these basic costs.

INCENTIVES:

My hope is that, after its release, I and the other contributing authors can help promote it through our own individual networks, so that the book itself can achieve strong sales, but also readers may discover new writers and their works, as well. Many of the writers involved in the Best Bi Erotica anthology have relationships with independent booksellers, and we hope to have the book available for sale there as well as to do readings and signings. We hope that podcast hosts, bloggers, critics, and anyone else interested in similar conversations around bisexuality and bi representation, can use their help to support this project. In an ideal world, this anthology can become an annual project, and continue to elevate and feature more writers in the future.
