About Me:

Hi, I’m Jade, a South African-born, British-raised filmmaker in my final year of university!

The Inheritance is my final major project – my course’s equivalent of a dissertation – but instead of writing an essay, I get to write, direct and produce a fantastically fun short film instead! In return for your support, I am offering you the opportunity to be involved with the filmmaking process and to appear in the film credits.

My passion lies in telling stories that explore flawed characters, their dysfunctional relationships, and the ridiculous situations that their decisions can often lead them to.

The Pitch:

What happens when a reckless, get-rich-quick-scheming man, and his pretentious, career-oriented sister get kidnapped by a Polish drug lord? Chaos. Dysfunction. And one very unexpected heart attack.

The Inheritance is a dramedy (with a dash of crime) that will serve as my final major project for my university course. The short film will follow Max & Ana Ames, estranged siblings thrown back into each other’s lives after the death of their mother. It’s a fast-paced, witty, and ridiculous story, all because one of them (guess who) made an extremely bad business decision.

The film is inspired by Edgar Wright’s (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver etc) filmmaking style, and is full of sibling bickering amidst absolute mayhem. If you love witty dialogue, disastrous decision-making and absurdly high stakes scenarios, then this will be the film for you!
