I decided to make the challenging decision to move away for college, states away to Washington, DC, at Howard University. As a first-generation student paying for college entirely on my own, the time has been difficult.

I am officially graduating two years early! I only have one year for the final stretch to graduate with a Political Science degree and Africana Studies minor. The journey has been challenging. Balancing school and work has meant living paycheck to paycheck, and the stress overpowers my academic and professional growth. Though the community's scholarships have had a deeply positive impact on me getting to Howard, the financial burden still remains.
