Hello, my name is Swary and around May 2023, my beloved father was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer that had metastasized to his liver and other surrounding organs. After several rounds of chemotherapy, things were looking up. However, after recently suffering from seizures and bleeding in the brain, it seems the cancer may be spreading even more. My father will possibly need more chemotherapy. Everyone close to him, especially our family, is completely devastated by this news, so we’re doing all that we can to help my father during this extremely difficult time. This fund has been set up to help my father with all his medical expenses that lie ahead, as well as show him love and care.
For some background, my father worked as a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy and had to sail the globe for anywhere between 6 to 10 months while I was growing up. As an Indian man, acting as the provider for his family was ingrained in him. It was always heartbreaking to watch him leave for a better half of my life while my mother had to raise me and my sister alone. He paid for both of our educational endeavors entirely by himself and neglected his own well-being to ensure our dreams came true.
He visited me in the United States in May 2022 after my wife and I bought our first home, and he decided to retire and spend his time with us. Unfortunately, a year later is when we discovered his Stage 4 cancer, with doctors telling us he had a little less than 2 years to live. My family has never once asked for anyone’s help, but as a son who is watching his father’s life slowly fade before him, I humbly request any support you could provide. I came to this country as an immigrant, and I have worked hard to build a stable life with the hope that someday, I would be able to move my parents close to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my father’s story, and thank you in advance for anything that you can spare.
