For the past 26 years, my parents, Robby and Cristin, have ran and owned Wasabi, a staple and a pioneer in the neighborhood of Greenpoint, setting a standard for quality and accessibility for sushi, and a place where our pride in culinary craftsmanship is combined with unforgettable experiences. This location is a representation of the hard work and commitment Robby and Cristin have poured into serving this neighborhood, friends, family, and tourists alike.

They have a deep personal connection to the location, having met there in 2001, prior to their marriage in 2003, and have hardly ever known a world without it.

However, over the past handful of years, we have faced numerous challenges, including rising operating costs and a difficult business environment. After doing everything they could to keep the store open, including recent renovations that total over $100,000, unfortunately, have lost the lease and have suddenly made the heartbreaking decision to close its doors on July 27, 2026.

This has had a profound effect on our emotions and financial situation, as we are unable to recoup a vast majority of our investment into the location and are suddenly forced to plan on transitioning and begin an unexpected and stressful new chapter in our lives.

They aren't certain of what lies in their business path beyond, and ideally, we would like to transition our buisness to a different location, but that would mean starting from scratch, a move that would be financially unbearable to us on our own.

My parents have always believed in working hard and giving back to the people of Greenpoint, friends, family, and many others. They would love to continue doing so in this manner if possible. If Wasabi has ever been a part of your life, whether as a customer, friend, visitor, or tourist, or if you simply want to help a family facing a difficult transition, we would be deeply grateful for your support. The proceeds would go directly to Cristin and Robby as they figure out what to do next, and move to a different place within Greenpoint.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your friends and family would also mean the world to us.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this challenging time, and for taking the time to read our story.
