We are a Palestinian family of six living in the Gaza Strip, specifically in Tel Al-Hawa. Our family consists of four siblings along with our mother and father. Ahlam is a third-year law student. From a young age, she has always dreamed big and aspired to become a successful woman. Ahmed is a high school student who has just one year left before starting his university journey. He has a strong interest in technology, believing it to be the path that will lead him to success. Jowan is only seven years old, and as you can imagine at her age, she is full of energy, joy, and innocence.
We once lived a calm and peaceful life in a beautiful home that held all our cherished memories, from childhood through adulthood. Everything changed suddenly after October 7, 2023. Our father now struggles to continue his work and may lose his job at any moment. Our mother no longer has a home to care for. We are unable to attend school or college, and our education has come to a halt.
Since the beginning of the war, we have been living under unbearable hardship. We have been forced to evacuate from one place to another in search of shelter, yet in truth, there is no safe place here. We have evacuated five times, and with each displacement, the danger has come closer. Finding sufficient food and clean water is extremely difficult, and when they are available, the prices are unimaginable. We sleep on the floor with empty stomachs and frightened souls. We have lost our beloved home and the neighborhood where we once lived, laughed, sang, dreamed, and felt safe together. All our happy memories have been taken from us, and all that remains now is a pile of rubble.
Words are not enough to describe the pain and heartbreak we feel after losing everything we loved and cared for, without any justification. It is devastating to witness our homeland—the place where we belong—being destroyed so brutally. We are now facing a catastrophe, left with nothing and no place to return to or rebuild our lives once the war ends.
We are living with only the most basic necessities, facing an uncertain future and no guarantees of safety. The fear that we could lose our lives at any moment fills us with constant dread. All we ask for is help to survive.
Any donation, no matter how small, can make a difference for us. Your support is our only hope to stay alive and keep going. We still dream of creating joyful and peaceful memories again, and with your help, that hope can become possible.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to our story and for caring about our survival.
