My name is Ebonique Simpson, and I’m originally from Jamaica, though I now live in the United States. I’m raising funds for my family back home, who have been severely affected by Hurricane Melissa. The storm caused massive destruction in their community; roofs were blown off, windows shattered, and floodwaters damaged the inside of their homes. My grandmother’s small shop, which has always been her main source of income and a place where neighbors gathered, was also destroyed. Without it, she is not sure how to earn money or help others in the community like she used to. The funds raised will go directly toward repairing their homes, replacing damaged furniture and supplies, and rebuilding my grandmother’s shop so she can get back on her feet. We’re also hoping to cover basic necessities like food, clean water, and building materials that have become scarce since the storm. Every donation, no matter how small, will help my family recover and bring hope back to a place that has lost so much.
