Hello, I’m Stephanie, and I’m creating this GoFundMe to support my mom, brother, his wife, and their kids after a house fire. While we were at church, my mom received a distressing call from her neighbor about a fire at her home. We rushed there to find the fire department on the scene. The fire, which started under an exterior window, caused significant exterior damage and some interior water damage, likely from the fire hoses. An electrical line was damaged, requiring repairs by an electrician before power can be safely restored to avoid further fire risks. Part of the ramp that my mom needs for her disability got damaged from the fire department so that they could access the exterior of the house better. My mom has contacted an electrician, but for now, my brother’s family is staying in a hotel, and my mom is with her cousin. The house still reeks of smoke, but I managed to temporarily fix the door frame so it can be locked. We’re incredibly grateful for the fire department’s quick response in ensuring the house was safe, especially for my mom’s dogs who must have been terrified. This GoFundMe aims to help cover my mom’s insurance deductible and the electrician’s fees to restore normalcy. My Brother is the sole provider of the house, his wife takes care of the household (including animals, 2 children, and helps my mother), while my mother is on pending approval for disability. With the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene approaching, this situation is likely stirring up painful memories of loss and displacement. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will assist them with deductibles that need to be met and getting a electrician to the house to fix electrical lines in order to get power turned on. We’re holding strong in our faith, thankful that the situation wasn’t worse.
*UPDATE AS OF 9/22/25: Took it a few days to show its head but the refrigerator ended up going bad. Its' compressor never came back on once the electrician repaired the wire that the firemen had cut. Freezer came back on but not the fridge. So they ended up having to go out and buy a refrigerator, that would not have been possible if it wasn't for our family, friends, and community sharing with them. I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart of the love that everyone has/is showing in this precedented time for my family.
