Hi! My name is Julian Knight, and I’m a Life Scout from Troop 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida. I’m currently working on my Eagle Scout Project, and I need your support to make it a success!
For my project, I’m partnering with the Florida Oceanographic Society to build and install Vertical Oyster Gardens (VOGs)—a sustainable, eco-friendly way to improve water quality in our local waterways. Each VOG provides a home for oysters that naturally filter the water, remove excess nutrients, and create habitats for small fish and other marine life.
Florida’s coastal ecosystems are under constant pressure from pollution, algae blooms, and habitat loss. Oysters are nature’s water filters—a single oyster can clean up to 50 gallons of water a day. By installing VOGs along docks and seawalls, we can make a lasting impact on the health of our environment.
Scouts from my troop and volunteers will assemble and install the gardens on August 8, 2025 at the Florida Oceanographic Society in Stuart, FL.
Whether it’s $5 or $50, your donation goes directly toward materials and tools that will make a real environmental difference. If you can’t donate, please share this page with friends and family!
Thank you for helping me complete my Eagle Project and for supporting a cleaner, healthier future for Florida’s waters!
