Support My Dream to Study Abroad in Alicante

I am a junior at Frank Sinatra High School, located in Astoria, Queens, NYC. I challenge myself academically by taking AP classes such as AP Language and AP Environmental Science. Outside of academics, I am very involved in my school community. I am a member of the cheer team, the Environmental Club, and the Fashion Club. Additionally, I participate in various extracurricular activities outside of school that I am passionate about. I have been a part of an ice skating team at Riverbank State Park for the past eight years, which has been an important part of my life. I am also involved in a girls’ empowerment program that introduces young women to careers in sports and provides opportunities to experience different types of athletics. Through this program, we develop essential life and social skills that will help us succeed in the future. Furthermore, I am part of a mentorship program that connects students interested in fashion with industry professionals, giving me valuable guidance and insight into my future career.

I am thrilled to have been accepted into the CIEE Study Abroad program, where I will be traveling to Alicante, Spain, in July 2025. I was fortunate to receive a scholarship; however, I still need to raise $5,000 to cover the remaining expenses of the program. This experience is incredibly important to me because I want to improve my Spanish skills and immerse myself in a culture I deeply admire.

As a Latina, it is important for me to strengthen my connection to the language spoken by much of my family. I want to go beyond simple, surface-level conversations and be able to communicate with them on a deeper, more meaningful level. While I have taken Spanish classes, I know that full immersion in a Spanish-speaking environment will greatly enhance my confidence and fluency. This opportunity means so much to me, and any amount of support would be truly appreciated
