thank you to all who have donated thus far! your support means the world.
this summer, i have the incredible opportunity to spend a month (august) in turkey studying butoh, a deeply transformative and enlivening form of dance theatre!
i’m raising funds to cover:
£892 for the course ~ including meals & accommodation
£600 (approx) for travel ~ trains, flights & hostel bookings
to promote this campaign, i’ll be hosting a one-night-only private performance. this will be an intimate sharing of performance art shaped by my ongoing relationship with butoh. the piece will be accompanied by live sound from my dear friend and creative ally, emilio mula of ‘children of compost’.
FRIDAY 22ND MAY

after exploring many artistic avenues throughout my life, i’ve come to recognise that my work lives and thrives most fully through the body—in performance, presence, dance and movement.
my practice expands into drawing, painting, poetry and weaving. each modality feeding the heart of my performance work. distinct in form, yet interwoven, each part informing the whole.
following one of the most challenging years (2025) of my life—art became my anchor, offering a place of refuge and devotion. my relationship with art persisted through the rupture of various life circumstances. not as decoration or distraction, but as a means to strengthen and keep going.
my art practice is a chamber in which i explore vast depths of feeling, sensation, emotion, thought. art truly is, and has always been this important to me. i want to deepen this commitment.
my intention is to create and share work that connects, challenges, frees, opens. work that reaches beyond entertainment and into something more essential. i want to share art that supports life, reveres death, and exists in symbiosis with the cycles of nature.
i deeply believe in the power of art to heal. i believe it is a way home to the soul, to innate meaning and purpose.

i’ve been exploring butoh on and off for the past four years. what began as a curiosity has become a clear calling. the practice resonates with my expression in a way i’ve not found through any other art form.
for me, butoh is channel—one through which my body becomes a pure vessel, an instrument to engage intimately with inner and outer worlds. it meets me where language fails. it asks me to slow down and listen. it offers me clarity, possibility, structure, and connects me with a sense of truth. it empties and it fills. it is a holding force.
butoh emerged in post-war japan as an artistic response to trauma, cultural upheavel, and the need for new forms of expression. it is art born from necessity. the practice uproots conventional ideas of beauty and instead explores the raw complexities of being alive.
butoh is a practice of embodiment. it engages with themes around memory, dreams, grief, death, rebirth, metamorphosis, and the natural world. it embraces the human and non-human, inviting the seen and unseen. butoh makes space for it all.
i feel at home in butoh. the practice has brought so much goodness to my life in the short time i’ve been journeying with its ways.

this adventure in turkey means so much to me. i feel like i’m at the beginning of something important. my heart is invested in it.
the course will be an opportunity for me to train more rigorously, refine my craft, and take my work to a much deeper level. it will connect me with an international community of artists, and open pathways for future development. i’m feeling giddy with excitement just thinking about it!
studying dance has been a long-term ambition of mine. i have a degree in fine art and have developed my dance practice independently over many years. this has been through countless conscious dance workshops as well as practicing in my home studio.
thus far, i’ve curated and performed four soul performance works, alongside participating in collaborative projects. i intend to continue developing in this area of service. i also want to learn how to facilitate spaces for others to explore their own creative landscape through movement and art, such as workshops and creative mentoring.

if reading my story touches you in any way—i’d be beyond grateful for your support to make this dream possible.
