Imagine needing life-saving surgery, but the hospital can’t perform it — that’s my dad’s reality right now.
On Wednesday, August 6th, my dad began experiencing severe chest pain. The pain quickly worsened, and he was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered he was having a heart attack. After X-rays and examinations, they found that both of his left arteries were 80% blocked, and his right artery was completely blocked. He was immediately taken into surgery, where doctors placed a stent in his right artery.
My dad is now home and is stable for the moment but according to the surgeon, he urgently needs a triple heart bypass before October 2025. Without it, his health will continue to decline in the coming months.
The challenge is that my dad is in Guam, where there are no cardiovascular surgeons and the hospital doesn’t have the equipment needed to perform this kind of surgery. Guam, a U.S. territory, continues to face these healthcare challenges, leaving families like mine with no choice but to seek treatment off-island.
The Philippines is no longer an option, as the costs are far higher than we anticipated. The most affordable and realistic option is to travel to California, where his insurance will cover the surgery itself , but not the therapy, clinic visits, or medications he will need during recovery.
The medical coordinator explained that my dad will need to stay in California for 45 to 60 days, this is before and after the surgery. This means we’ll also have to cover lodging and food for the duration of his stay.
My family is contributing everything we can, but we simply can’t afford this on our own. Every single donation will directly help my dad get the life-saving surgery he desperately needs. Your support will go toward covering the cost of his therapy, clinic visits, lodging and medications during his recovery.
From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly ask for your help in giving my dad a second chance at life.
Thank you, and God bless you. ❤️
