Hi, my name is Megan, and I’m raising funds to purchase a 14ft lightweight, compact, foldable ramp for my dad, who has muscular dystrophy. My dad uses a motorized wheelchair. He is unable to climb stairs (big or small), walk for more than about 20 minutes, stand for long durations of time, and get up unassisted from regular or low-height chairs. Unfortunately, this means he can’t easily visit me at my home or move freely, whether for social visits or emergencies, without facing significant barriers.

Currently, there are stairs leading into my house that make it impossible for my dad to come see me. He hasn’t been able to visit, and it breaks my heart knowing how much he wants to. I have recently moved into a new rental home, and being the supportive father that he is, my dad wants to help me get settled in and eventually come over for social visits. We have tried to find numerous solutions with little luck either because of financial burden or ramp construction complexity.

Lucky, we found a portable, easy-to-move ramp which would change that. It is foldable and lightweight enough to allow him to visit me, friends, and other family without stairs as a barrier to entryways. Having a lightweight, foldable ramp that can be set up anywhere would make a world of difference in my dad’s life. Not only would it give him the ability to visit his loved ones, but it would also help him maintain a sense of independence and freedom in the face of his ongoing challenges with muscular dystrophy.
