In the early hours of December 7th, our family’s lives changed in an instant. While sleeping in their bedrooms, my two little cousins were trapped when their home suddenly exploded from a gas leak and collapsed on top of them. What should have been a safe place became a nightmare in seconds. My 15-year-old cousin suffered a broken leg and is now facing a long and painful recovery. My 6-year-old cousin broke her chin and jaw and will require surgery, along with ongoing medical care. Both girls have endured unimaginable fear, trauma, and pain — and their road to healing is just beginning.

Their family has lost their home and is now overwhelmed with hospital bills, surgery costs, temporary housing, and everyday living expenses. No family should have to face this alone. En la madrugada del 7 de diciembre , la vida de nuestra familia cambió en un instante. Mientras dormían en sus habitaciones, la casa de mis dos pequeñas primas explotó debido a una fuga de gas y colapsó sobre ellas sin previo aviso. Mi prima de 15 años sufrió una fractura en la pierna, y mi primita de 6 años se rompió el mentón y la mandíbula, por lo que necesitará cirugía, además de atención médica continua. Ambas han pasado por un trauma físico y emocional inimaginable.
