Last week, I came home expecting a normal night with my cat, my baby, my best friend, my comfort, my everything. But instead, I found him not acting like himself. He wasn’t moving much, and his breathing looked wrong. It was one of those moments where you feel your stomach drop because you just know something isn’t okay.
One minute he was at home cuddling with me, living his best life, and the next I was rushing him to the emergency vet terrified I was going to lose him. I did not care about anything else, I just needed to get him help.
After exams, tests, and x-rays, the vet told me something I still can’t fully process: my cat was diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF). They explained that he had fluid building up in his lungs, which was making it hard for him to breathe. Hearing the words “heart failure” about a cat who is only 1 year old absolutely broke me.
He is not “just a pet” to me. Ever since I met him, he changed my life. He’s been with me through so much, and we’ve shared so many little adventures together, car rides, late nights, cuddles, and the everyday moments that somehow mean the most. He was with me my last year of college, he was with me as I graduated, transitioned to the next step. He’s the one who follows me around like my shadow, makes me laugh when I don’t feel like smiling, and gives me a kind of love that’s impossible to explain unless you’ve had an animal that feels like your soulmate.
Watching him struggle to breathe has been the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever experienced, and I’m doing everything I can to fight for him.
Unfortunately, the cost of emergency care, treatment, medications, imaging, and follow-up visits has become overwhelming. I’m asking for help because I want to do whatever it takes to give him a chance to recover and live the long, happy life he deserves. He is doing his part and fighting, I need help doing my part.
Every donation, share, or kind message means more than I can put into words. If you’re able to help us, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My only goal is to get him better so he can enjoy more pupcups, more cuddles, and more adventures with me.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and helping me save my baby.
