My brother was born with a congenital heart defect that required open-heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic when he was an infant. Throughout our lives, we have known that he would likely need another surgery as an adult. After many years of monitoring his condition and carefully searching for the right specialists, that time has now arrived. He is currently undergoing open-heart surgery today, Monday March 16, at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles.

This is a significant procedure, and the recovery will be both lengthy and demanding. For at least three to four months, he will be unable to work. As a touring sound engineer, his work is physically demanding and requires long hours of travel and handling heavy equipment. His doctors have made it clear that he will need substantial time to recover before he can safely resume those responsibilities.

Because he works as an independent contractor, he does not have access to paid medical leave. During his recovery period, he will have no income. The funds raised will help cover the medical expenses associated with his surgery as well as essential living costs such as rent, insurance, car payments, and daily necessities. Having support for these expenses will allow him to focus fully on his recovery without the added stress of financial uncertainty.
