My aspiration to become an oral surgeon is rooted in both personal experience and a long-standing commitment to helping others, especially children. This passion began when a close friend of mine underwent corrective oral surgery. Watching their journey before and after the procedure was transformative for me. I saw how something that began as fear and discomfort turned into confidence, relief, and a renewed sense of self. That experience showed me that oral surgeons do far more than perform technical procedures; they change lives, restore dignity, and give children the confidence to smile without hesitation. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to pursue a career where I could have that kind of lasting impact.

My interest in medicine has continued to grow through both academic and hands-on experiences. I have actively sought opportunities to learn more about healthcare, including completing medical-focused summer programs and earning certifications that introduced me to the rigor, discipline, and responsibility required in this field. These experiences confirmed that medicine, particularly surgery, is where my strengths and passions align. I am especially drawn to working with children, as I believe compassion and reassurance are just as important as technical skill when treating young patients.

As a student leader, I have learned the importance of responsibility, communication, and service. Serving as class president, a National Honor Society member, and a section leader in marching band has taught me how to lead with empathy, manage pressure, and remain committed even when challenges arise. Athletics, particularly competitive running, have further strengthened my resilience, time management, and mental toughness—qualities that are essential for success in a demanding surgical career.

Attending the NYLF Envision Advanced Medicine & Healthcare program through WorldStrides represents a pivotal step in my journey. This program will provide me with direct exposure to advanced medical concepts, surgical specialties, and real-world medical environments while allowing me to learn from professionals actively working in healthcare. It will help me better understand the path to becoming a surgeon, from undergraduate preparation to medical school and beyond. Most importantly, it will allow me to refine my goals with clarity and confidence as I prepare for a future dedicated to patient care.

I am deeply motivated to pursue a career that combines precision, discipline, and compassion. Becoming an oral surgeon would allow me to serve children during some of their most vulnerable moments and help them regain comfort, confidence, and quality of life. This program brings me one step closer to turning that purpose into reality, and I am committed to making the most of every opportunity to grow, learn, and give back.
