Hello! This June, I will be attending the 5oth anniversary of the African Literature Association Conference in Nairobi, Kenya. I have attended this conference off and on for 25 years now! This year, I have two papers I will be presenting: "The Trauma of Mind: The Stone Virgins, Postwar Transitions, and PTSD"; and "The Medium Is the Message: Marechera, Ngugi, and the Dramatization of Form." I will be participating at the conference as an independent scholar with no institutional support whatsoever. Most of you know that I am part-time faculty and already struggle just to survive on my low wages despite working two (and sometimes three) jobs. A trip such as this is out of my reach though pivotal for my own scholarship. That is where you come in! I am soliciting financial assistance for my flight and hotel during the conference.
