SUPPORT MX. SÜR FOR A MANAGEABLE START IN BERLIN

Hello Everyone,

I’m Mx. Sür. I am a DJ/producer, co-founder of a music label, event and space curator, collage artist, and an LGBTQIA+ rights activist based in Istanbul.

It has become increasingly challenging for me to sustain my life in Istanbul as a hardworking person actively contributing to various projects and holding diverse positions in these fields since 2007. The current environment in Turkey, where the government targets the LGBTQIA+ community systematically, the downfall of the local currency, and aggressive inflation rates, make it (unhabitable/uninhabitable) for me to continue my work and exist authentically as a queer individual.

Recently, I had to resign from my former DJ residency due to issues like bossy attitudes and a sense of queerbaiting. Moreover, changes in the law restrict me from subletting my apartment, makes it impossible to maintain a decent living. These issues had all resulted in mounting debt for me.

In addition to working alone, I hope to collaborate with other artists and create on a global scale. Furthermore, I want to support aspiring queer artists from Turkey in making their international debuts. I have decided to relocate to Berlin in order to do these.

After a year-long and harsh struggle, I was finally able to obtain an artist visa for Germany.

Now, I am reaching out to you for support in making this transition to Berlin. The funds raised will go towards covering the closure of my life in Istanbul, and establishing a somehow fresh start in Berlin. Your support is crucial, and I deeply appreciate any assistance you can provide.
