I'm Maureen/Muzz/Mau Laverty and I am a 66-year-old cyclist with a titanium hip. On August 24, I qualified for the 2025 Gran Fondo World Cycling Championships in Australia (in October!) by winning my age group at a UCI certified race in Jacó, Costa Rica.

Last year, I rode at the World Championships after only 18 months of training with a professional cycling coach, and it was an INCREDIBLE experience. This year, my fitness is at a completely new level - I'm stronger, faster, and even more motivated!

The timeline between qualifying and getting myself and my bike to Australia is short - a little more than 6 weeks.
