Muzghan is a brilliant Afghan law graduate who once ranked among the top 300 candidates out of 15,000 in Afghanistan’s national judicial examination. Today she has earned a full scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in political science in Pakistan, but she cannot reach this life-changing opportunity without help covering the cost of leaving Afghanistan. The scholarship includes everything except the first semester’s living expenses which your donations will help her cover as well.
Your support can help her take the final step toward continuing her education and one day advocating for justice and women’s rights.
On August 15, 2021, with the government takeover by the Taliban, Muzghan was crushed with the fact that life as a free woman and scholar had abruptly come to an end. Before the collapse of the government, Muzghan worked tirelessly to become a judge in Afghanistan, earning a place among the top 300 candidates out of 15,000 in a nationwide examination. Her future was bright.
“We were supposed to begin our preliminary judicial training and, after completing the program, officially serve as judges. Unfortunately, the government collapsed, and with it, my dreams were buried.”
When the Taliban banned women from studying or working outside the home, Muzghan felt that everything she had worked for had been taken away overnight. For a moment, it seemed her dreams were over. But her determination returned, and she refused to give up on her ambitions—or on the hope that one day she could use her education to defend the rights of women like herself.
Instead, Muzghan began quietly serving her community. She volunteers with humanitarian groups distributing food to families in need and secretly teaches women how to read and write in English. At the same time, she continues studying through online courses and opportunities in entrepreneurship while maintaining her focus on law and policy.
After overcoming countless hurdles—applications, interviews, paperwork, and personal risk—her perseverance finally opened a door. Muzghan was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in political science at a university in Pakistan. This opportunity represents hope and the chance to continue her mission. Yet one final barrier remains: the cost of leaving Afghanistan and traveling to begin the program she has fought so hard to earn.
Supporting Muzghan means standing behind a determined young woman who has worked tirelessly to achieve an opportunity that many can only dream of. As a high-achieving student from a country where women have largely lost the right to pursue higher education, she has overcome enormous obstacles—rigorous interviews, extensive paperwork, testing, social pressures, and the constant challenge of insecurity—to earn a place in a master’s program with a full scholarship.
Now she faces her final hurdle: the high cost of transportation, exit permissions, visas, passports, taxes, and documentation required to leave Afghanistan. For women like Muzghan, pursuing higher education comes with steep barriers, but with support, she can continue the journey she has fought so hard to begin and build a future grounded in knowledge, resilience, and hope. ✨
Thank you for taking the time to read Muzghan’s story and for caring about her future. Your support will help Muzghan continue her education and keep alive her dream of serving justice and empowering women. Helping others has always been her priority.
Now it is time to help her achieve her goals.
