My WHY is my Dad... He poured everything he had into helping others, usually through the performing arts. On stage, back stage, building the stage, fundraising to make sure everyone who wanted to could participate. He was funny, practical, kind, talented and the very best father and friend.
What do I miss most about Hank? His voice. His singing voice, hearing his voice, the sage advice he spoke with such ease. It hurts how much I miss singing harmony with my Daddio.
Hank always wrote poems for special events. So, I figured I’d write one for this campaign.

What is it like to sing a song?
Loud and proud and standing tall…
What is it like to sing from the heart?
To express yourself and find your art.
What can singing do you ask?
It can heal and mend and bring us past
Our differences, our struggles too.
MUSIC is what bring us through…
Pain, confusion, low self esteem
Come sing with me and you’ll know what I mean.
We all have a song, are you willing to share?
Reach out with your voice, show that you care.
Discover yourself, discover your sound
Find the truth as you sing it out loud.

I BELIEVE in the power of music. I KNOW, have SEEN and FELT the power of music. So did Hank! SO, Help us to make music education more accessible in Chaffee County.

2-part fundraiser! Performing Arts Scholarship through the Hank Gonzalez Memorial Fund along with raising funds to make Music Therapy accessible across Chaffee County.

Jordan Gonzalez of Arts First Studios is partnering with Altitude Music Therapy Services (Kirsten Arbogast, MT-BC) to raise funds to increase access to sustainable music therapy services within the Chaffee County region AND support the Hank Gonzalez Memorial Fund which provides Financial aid toward Performing Arts Education.

While music therapy services are evidence-based and used to accomplish individual goals within a clinical and therapeutic relationship, funding for these valuable services is limited to a few narrow streams. Many individuals who could benefit from these services may not be able to access them due to various socioeconomic barriers.

The evidence for music’s effect on mood, cognitive functioning, language, and social/emotional development is overwhelming. Music education and in its many forms is imperative to sustaining a rich and vibrant culture and community. Exploration through music offers us the opportunity to help individuals become well-rounded, strong problem solvers; and generally more confident in themselves and their abilities……
