On June 24th, 2026, back-to-back earthquakes hit Venezuela, resulting in catastrophic damage and a massive loss of life. Two of those lives were Astrid Anabel Rosales León and her husband, Daniel Rondón.
You might know Astrid by her artist Instagram handle @muni_luny. She was an incredibly talented illustrator, wife, mom to three cats, and a beloved daughter.
She was also my friend and one of my favorite artists, not just because her drawings were beautiful but because she was funny, kind, and sweet. She drew some of my favorite portraits of my characters, and I'll cherish them forever.
I am setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of and with the full support of her mother and father, Karla Jennifer León and Oscar Enrique Rosales, as this platform is not available in Venezuela. While doing so, I've learned more about Muni's life that I'd like to share.
Her husband, Daniel, was a good husband and spoiled her a lot. They both loved kids.
She loved the Sanrio character Kuromi.
She had three cats: Chimuelo (Toothless), Kuromi, and Totoro. Unfortunately, they also have passed during the earthquakes.
Her favorite thing to draw was eyes, which makes total sense because the way she drew eyes was stunning.
She would excitedly tell her mother that she drew book covers and illustrations for authors worldwide.
Personally, I’d like to add that her meme game was strong and approximately 20% of my extensive meme folder is from her contributions.
And finally, the whole reason for this GoFundMe, is that she supported her family's medical care costs because that's the kind of caring, loving person she was. I know that sometimes, she'd be working on commissions while waiting for her father’s medical procedures in the hospital.
A message to Muni: I know wherever you are, you’re surrounded by your doting husband and cats, stocked with an endless supply of premium chocolates, and teasing Valko in LaDS.
Who I am: I'm Perri Torani, and I've commissioned Muni for several portraits of my characters. After learning of her passing, I shared a story about wanting to send the profits of my shirt (for which she's the artist of the center artwork) to an earthquake relief fund, and that's how I got in contact with her family. Her family and I have already completed a test transfer via Zelle, so once the funds are released to me, I'll transfer them directly to their account.
