On June 26, 2026, two devastating earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 shook Venezuela, leaving the country in chaos. At least 50,000 people are missing so far, and the US Geological Survey estimates a 42% probability of between 10,000 and 100,000 deaths.
Habib Chayeb is among the many thousands missing.
His building Rompemar II completely collapsed in Carabadella, La Guaira.
While my family in Venezuela is boots on the ground in looking for my uncle, I’m here in USA trying to raise funds to support their efforts in finding him and assisting their community.
The Mujica-Chayeb family is struggling to cope with the aftermath. Habib Chayeb is knowing as a loving & giving man & was always involved in his helping his neighbors & community in Carabadella, a zone that was impacted the most. We are doing everything we can to locate our loved one and support our community, but the challenges are immense.
The funds raised will help cover the cost of:
-excavation and construction machinery
-search efforts
-supplies
-medical needs
-logistical support
Every dollar will go directly to helping us find our uncle & support the search & rescue efforts.
Venezuela was already facing a humanitarian crisis due to lack of infrastructure and resources, making this disaster even more overwhelming for families like mine. An estimated 774 buildings have collapsed across the nation making the magnitude of loss and destruction incomprehensible.
Any donation, regardless of size, makes a difference. We are grateful for any support you can offer during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and generosity will help us hold onto hope and move forward, one step at a time.
Sincerely yours,
Mujica-Chayeb Family
