Support Mujib's Fight for Recovery.

Hello and As-salamu alaykum,

I am writing on behalf of my brother Sheik Mujib Rahman Haidar, eldest son of Moulvi Sheikh Abdul Rahiman (Imam of Wainiokoro, Daku, Valebasoga, Vunimoli Mosque) to seek your generosity to support our family to pay his medical bills and help him recover.

My brother was admitted to the Oceania Hospital in Suva, Fiji, on Sunday 8 December to amputate the toe on his left foot due to gangrene. However, following this surgery, he experienced significant complications and his health has drastically deteriorated. He is now relying on a ventilator in the Hyper-Dependence Unit (which is similar to Australia's ICU). This has sky rocketed the medical bills to over $32K FJD. While all the costs related to the initial amputation have been paid (approximately $11K FJD) another $20K FJD is urgently required to support his treatment in the Hyper-Dependence Unit. Each day he remains in the hospital costs the family approximately $8K FJD.

My brother is the sole income earner in his family, and is the primary carer for our elderly and sick father. He has two children currently completing their studies and contributing what little they earn to support the family. My siblings and I are struggling to raise this large sum and would immensely appreciate any contribution towards helping Mujib and our family.

With gratitude,
Mujib and the Sheikh Family

UPDATE 13/12/24: Mujib is now able to breathe on his own yet still requires use of a CPAP machine to maintain satisfactory oxygen levels in the Hyper-Dependence Unit.

Thank you all for your generosity and support so far - we are beyond amazed and incredibly grateful for how quickly our friends and family have come together for us.

UPDATE 14/12/24: Good morning and As-salamu alaykum to all our friends and family,

We are deeply moved and overwhelmed by the love and support you’ve shown for Mujib. Thanks to your generosity, we reached our fundraising goal within 24 hours, and yet, many of you have continued to donate beyond that. We are truly grateful for the kindness and compassion our community has showered upon us—thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Mujib is showing signs of improvement, but he remains under close medical observation. The doctors are carefully monitoring his heart, lungs, and amputation site. For now, it is uncertain when he will be discharged, as he still requires oxygen support.

Thank you once again for coming together for us during this difficult time.

With gratitude,
The Sheikh Family
