Cold Plunge for Women’s Locker Room at MTC
Our tennis club is a special place for so many of us, offering a space to play, connect, and support each other’s health and well-being. Tennis is provides all those benefits, but it also can be hard on the body. Cold plunging has been hailed for being the most effective recovery technique around when it comes to healing muscles and joints. It also provides tremendous other important benefits, such as increasing the ability to resist illness, boosting mental health, accelerating metabolism, and improving circulation. Personally, I find it's the only thing that eases my arthritis other than pills.
Right now, the men’s locker room at our club has a cold plunge that was provided at a generous discount by a male member. Many women at the club have expressed how much they would benefit from having a cold plunge of their own, and apparently tried to get the board to secure the same option when the men's room got one a few years ago, but were unable to. In Marin, sites that offer a cold plunge are hard to find and often expensive. Having one at our club would be a tremendous asset, and would give women yet another reason to come to the club even when it’s raining, when they’re injured, or when they simply want to hang out with other women doing the cold plunge/hot tub duathlon.
A generous MTC member is giving us a very good deal on the cold plunge, but the tub plus installation will still come to $9-10K, given steep inflation since the men's room acquired theirs.
We’re reaching out to everyone who supports wellness and community time (not to mention gender parity - women want our cold plunge too!), to help make this vision a reality. Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser with others at the club. We need a lot of support to make this happen, and every contribution or share brings us one step closer to providing this much-needed resource for our community.
Any questions, reach out to me, Diana Maier, an MTC member, via this platform.
Go MTC women, go!
