We are making an appeal for our dear friend, Sylvia Bachemin McKenzie, an environmental justice warrior and community organizer in New Orleans. She needs our help to cover expenses over the next 6 months.

Ms. Sylvia has been battling uterine cancer since March of 2022 and October 2024 was the first time in 2 years she didn't have to have chemotherapy. Her surviving is a testament to Sylvia's strength and faith. Though she is getting better every day, cancer has left its mark, and Ms. Sylvia is not able to fully return to her busy work and activism schedule. She is applying for disability, and while she awaits the decision, she’s asking for financial support to meet her daily needs.

Please help us in honoring Ms. Sylvia; we all benefit from her tireless work!

Ms. Sylvia’s mother, Mary “Hotrod” Bachemin went home to Jesus this past Fall. She and Ms. Sylvia are in some of the shared photos. This fundraiser is in her honor.
