Support a Teacher Suddenly Left Unpaid After Charter School Closure
Hi, my name is Ms. Sherry Belliveau, and I’m a dedicated Music and Handwork teacher who suddenly lost my position when the Alachua County School Board shut down our school—Constellation Charter School, a Waldorf inspired charter school —with just two hours’ notice.
I taught grades 1–7 daily, sharing music curriculum with singing, pentatonic flute, diatonic flute, Suzuki violin and handcrafts like knitting, sewing, weaving, and wool felting. It was more than a job—it was a calling. Now, the Alachua County District owes me $9,500 for work I already performed, and they have made no commitment to pay that any time soon.
While the school’s board is pursuing legal action, I am left without income or answers. I’m doing everything I can—working at the farmers market, applying to new teaching roles, and offering private lessons to homeschool pods—but it’s not enough to cover immediate bills.
This fundraiser will help cover basic living expenses, rent, food, and utilities during this unexpected gap. If you can give anything at all, I would be so deeply grateful. And if you need any sewing or handwork services, I’d love to offer that in return.
Thank you for standing with me during this difficult time.
With appreciation,
Ms. Sherry Belliveau
