Support Ms. Lea, A Devoted Preschool Teacher Fighting Cancer

Donation protected
Meet Ms. Lea, a devoted preschool teacher at the Foreign Language Immersion School (FLIS) in Celebration, FL. Originally from Venezuela, Lea and her husband Armando moved to the U.S. a decade ago in pursuit of the promise of a better life for their two young sons.

Ms. Lea began working at FLIS in 2016 not long after arriving in the U.S. It was obvious from the first day, she was born to be a teacher. From preschool to VPK, Lego Club and after school tutoring, Lea’s passion is helping children. There is no doubt she has shaped the character and laid the foundation of learning for countless children.

The Leamsy family was thriving and by all accounts living the American dream. Lea teaching, Armando working in IT, and both boys recently graduated from Celebration High School and making big plans for their future.

Over the past couple of months Lea had begun to have unusual and an increasing number of headaches. On the evening of April 12, 2024, she was filled with excitement and pride as she was on the way to see her son’s first home that he closed on earlier that day. Sadly, began to not feel well and decided to go to the emergency room. Tragically, within just a few hours was diagnosed with brain cancer. Over the course of the next week she underwent countless tests and procedures and was official diagnosis with stage 4, Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer with metastasis in the brain, a rare genetic form of cancer

Despite the devastating news, in true Lea style, she faces this battle head-on strong in her faith, and with positivity, strength and determination and with her husband Armando and two sons, Luis Andres and Leonardo close by her side.

Already, Ms. Lea has undergone intensive treatments including radiation therapy and the implantation of an Ommaya Reservoir to manage cerebrospinal fluid. Promising initial results show a reduction in tumor size, but the journey ahead is long and arduous.

Unfortunately, insurance hurdles delayed the start of crucial pharmaceutical interventions tailored to her genetic mutation. With mounting medical bills and the urgent need for specialized medication, Ms. Lea faces an uphill financial battle.

We are asking for everyone to rally around Ms. Lea, not just as a teacher but as a beloved friend and inspiration. Your support can make a tangible difference in her fight against cancer. Every donation, no matter how small, contributes to easing the burden of medical expenses and ensures Ms. Lea receives the care she urgently needs.

Together, let's show Ms. Lea that she is not alone in this fight. Your generosity will not only aid her recovery but also serve as a testament to the impact she has had on countless lives. Thank you for considering a donation to support our beloved teacher, Ms. Lea.
