Ms. Icie, our amazing lead teacher of the Fox class, has always been a source of strength and kindness for our children and families. In the past few months, her world has been turned upside down. She suffered the unexpected loss of her father, and just a few weeks later, her mother endured a heart attack that required emergency surgery. While her mother’s surgery was successful, the family now travels to the hospital two to three times a week for ongoing care.

Then last week, the flooding in Auburn submerged half of their home and their only car was washed away. There were eight people and a dog in their household and they were able to find housing for her 5 younger siblings out in Ocean Shores. Soon after, Ms. Icie, her mother, uncle, and dog were then rescued and are currently staying temporarily in a hotel in Federal Way so her mother can continue to visit the hospitals for the care she needs. We are grateful her family is now safe, but they have lost everything—clothing, food, pet supplies, and transport— and will not be able to return to their home again.

I am reaching out to our community to ask for help. Your support will go directly toward housing or hotel costs, replacing essentials, groceries, pet supplies, transportation for work and hospital visits, and helping Ms. Icie’s family have a joyful Christmas.
