Support Ms. Ellis in Her Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and the greater Weston community. Thank you for taking the time to stop by this GoFundMe page for beloved teacher, Ms. Elena Ellis. We have all been touched by her care and education of our children through her combined 40 years at Indian Trace Elementary in Weston, Florida and as an educator in her home country of Colombia. She taught our children to read, write, build sentences, and prepared them to become independent, empathetic, caring, thoughtful, and creative individuals. Ms. Ellis’ devotion as a teacher has impacted the lives of our children and families, many of us seeking her additional support as a tutor and coach to continue helping our children to reach their fullest potential. Ms. Ellis has always been there whenever there was a time of need. Now, she needs our help.

Unfortunately, Ms. Ellis had two major falls this school year. The first injury required a total shoulder replacement in January 2024. She had to take time off from teaching so that she could regain her strength through weekly occupational therapy. She was slowly healing and back at work until her second fall in May 2024. This new injury drastically set her back. Unfortunately, she is now forced to wear a neck collar to strengthen her C1 and C2 vertebrae. She had to endure sutures in her face and fractured a finger. She is undergoing vigorous hours of occupational therapy for her shoulder, neck and finger. She will not be able to complete the school year due to this setback. Ms. Ellis is unable to independently do most activities of living and requires assistance at all times, even for basic things and is unable to drive herself.

Ms. Ellis’ family resides in Colombia. Her colleagues and alumni parents/students have become her family throughout the years. We have created this GoFundMe page in hopes of gathering financial support and partnering with us in prayer for her during this difficult time. As you can imagine, an injury of this magnitude can be quite difficult and challenging for anyone to manage and comes with a long road to healing, ongoing therapy and recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by this page for her. Your donation of prayers and funds are extremely appreciated as we surround Ms. Ellis with the same positive energy she has used to invigorate our students year after year.
