Support Ms. Delicata's Classroom Reboot

Donation protected
Hello, and thanks for checking out my GoFundMe!

After spending 6 years outside the classroom supporting adult learning and development in corporate America, I am returning to my favorite role I've ever held: Public School Teacher. During my recent hiatus, I traveled the country and did some soul searching about what truly brings me joy. Now, I've decided to return to the classroom to be a part of students' everyday lives and learning. As a private school student turned ardent public school advocate, I am elated to be reconnected with the opportunity to live my values everyday and make a direct impact on our Chicago community. "Ms. Delicata" is back!

While I have experience in the classroom, I am extremely proud to be teaching a new student audience. I'm headed to Middle School, specifically 7th Grade English Language Arts, at Beasley Academic Center at S. 53rd and State St. Beasley is a thriving K-8 Chicago public magnet school, serving 100% minority students. Students there range in abilities from gifted and reading above grade level to students striving to reach grade level reading success.

Here's where you come in: When I left teaching in 2018, I donated everything I had to other public school teachers. I am starting from scratch. I am asking for your financial support with start up costs to get my classroom started on the right foot. As anyone with a middle schooler knows, teachers today are competing with a lot of other priorities and distractions, so having the bells and whistles really helps! All funds you provide will go to my classroom expenses.

Here's a sample of what I'm striving to purchase:
  • Classroom printer and printer paper
  • Classroom library, full of high interest books on a range of reading levels (This is where most of the $$$ goes)
  • Laminating Materials (to keep the books intact!)
  • Classroom library shelving
  • Individual reading journals
  • Pencils, pens, paper, dry erase markers, mini whiteboards
  • Power strips
  • Posters and decorations
  • Tissues, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer

Thank you for your consideration :) If now is not a good time to donate, I'll be back with more ideas of how we can make school more wonderful for some incredibly deserving students later this year.

If there is something specific you would like me to purchase with the funds (for instance, you have a favorite book from middle school you want to have available in my classroom) be sure to make a note or reach out to me and let me know.
