Doug and Mary Jo started Mrs. Kenyons Clowder House, a cat sanctuary in about 2020. We are located in rural eastern North Dakota where there is no lack of unwanted cats wandering the countryside. We have taken in stray after stray and have also worked with a couple of rescues as a resource to take their more "difficult" clients. Many of these cats are poorly socialized, have been returned by adopters due to health problems, are deemed unadoptable because they are blind, deaf, or have other chronic health problems that most people don't want to deal with. Although our nonprofit is officially named Mrs. Kenyon's Clowder House, we often refer to it as the end of the road cat sanctuary. For many of the cats there is nowhere else to go. Once the cats arrive, they become residents for the rest of their lives. We make sure everyone is spayed or neutered, receives regular vaccinations, gets dental care, medications or other medical care that is needed. While we have been able to keep up with all of that in the past using our own funds, we have recently been dealt a serious blow with the passing of Doug. Mary Jo is currently caring for 68 cats and will need help if she is going to continue with her mission. If you are willing to help out, we can assure you the money will be well spent on food and veterinary care. We do have nonprofit status as a 501c3, so any contributions can be considered charitable contributions for tax purposes.
