Support Mrs. Hernandez's Fight Against Cancer

Mrs. Judi Hernandez: some of you may know her as Mrs. Hernandez, or your awesome geometry teacher, or your colleague, or long-time Mustang, but I know her as the kindest, most generous human and my sister.
She has always been there for all of us, but now she needs our prayers and any assistance that we can provide to help with her life-saving medical treatment.
Mrs. Hernandez was recently diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer. Judi is one of the most positive people I know, and she is optimistically starting her treatment on September 3rd at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, one of the top medical institutions in Florida. To avoid the exhausting commute back and forth, she will be staying at a nearby hotel through September. After her radiation treatment, her medical team will re-evaluate the cancer for shrinkage. If the radiation has worked, they’ll start chemotherapy, and then possibly surgery. As we all know, the costs for her battle will add up quickly.
This Fall, Mrs. Hernandez reaches her 30th year teaching and raising our students in the Merritt Island High School hallways. It’s a long and draining road ahead of her, but Mrs. Hernandez is strong in her faith and determination. She has given me (Elizabeth Vance, her colleague for over 15 years, and friend, soulmate, and hermana for even longer) permission to share her story with our Island Community and Mustang Family to drum up as much support as possible for this family as they go through such a tough moment in their lives. Our goal is for the Hernandez family to focus on health and healing, without the added stress of drained finances.
Anything we can do to ease her financial burden will be helpful. There is no contribution too small, and together, we can make a big impact in alleviating financial worry and replacing it with comfort, security, and love!
Much thanks from the Hernandez & Vance families for your support and prayers.
