Help Mrs. Annie Hicks and Her Son Rebuild After a Devastating Fire

On the evening of Saturday, December 13, 2025, tragedy struck the home of Mrs. Annie Hicks, a beloved 88-year-old community grandmother, and her son Mr. Derrick Hicks, a 65-year-old disabled veteran. A devastating house fire—under suspicious circumstances, destroyed the place they called home and left them suddenly displaced, with nearly all of their possessions lost.

Just moments before the fire, Mrs. Hicks was doing what she has always done for others, preparing for Christmas, baking her well-known holiday cookies and tea cakes, and getting ready to feed and bless those she loves. In an instant, decades of memories, stability, and comfort were reduced to ashes.

Both Mrs. Hicks and Mr. Hicks live with mobility challenges and respiratory issues, making this loss especially traumatic. By God’s grace, they were rescued and evacuated by two young neighbors who happened to be passing by, saving their lives. While we are profoundly grateful that no lives were lost, the reality remains that they now face the immense challenge of starting over at a stage in life when no one should have to.

Mrs. Hicks is more than a homeowner—she is a pillar of the community, a lifelong giver, and a source of wisdom and love to generations. Earlier this year, she was honored by her city at the MLK Banquet in recognition of her service, compassion, and impact. She has spent her life helping others; now, she needs our help.

This GoFundMe has been created to help secure safe housing, replace essential belongings, and support their immediate and long-term needs so they can live their golden years with dignity, safety, and comfort.

If you are able, please consider giving. If you cannot give, please share. Every act of kindness matters.

Let us come together as a community and surround Mrs. Annie Hicks and Mr. Derrick Hicks with the same love and generosity

Special thanks to the Williston Fire Department and the Williston Police Department for their professionalism and courtesy in serving this family.
