This is Mr. Pickles, he’s the most perfect, beautiful boy you could ask for. On Wednesday he was acting strange and hiding so I made the decision to take him to the ER. Turns out he was severely anemic and needed a blood transfusion stat to keep him alive. Unfortunately, after two transfusions, one of which he had a reaction to, his blood stats didn’t improve, in fact they went down. His spleen is also enlarged and his stomach was distended. Despite tests upon tests the vets haven’t seen anything to indicate why he would be so anemic. The transfusions are helping keep him stable but he needs more tests to show us what’s really going on. A bone marrow extraction would alone cost 2,000. Right now the vet bill is up to 7600 dollars. I would give my life for this cat, he’s my best friend, but I don’t have thousands of dollars to keep giving him the tests to actually find out what’s going on.
