For more than 45 years, Mr. Brother Peacemaker, owner of Gates of Beauty, has been a pillar in the Carrboro, Chapel Hill , and Pittsboro communities. He is well-known for his work in the auto-body repair industry. Mr. Peacemaker takes pride in his work and has been known to help many families keep their vehicles running safely and looking beautiful. You could always find him working, and in between, waving, smiling and talking to people as they passed by his workshop
Sadly, on Friday, August 22, 2025, an unexpected electrical fire tore through his shop, leaving behind much damage and great loss. The flames damaged his shop and a neighboring shop, with a total of about $500,000 in damage. Not only did Mr. Peacemaker lose his equipment, but his livelihood, because his shop is condemned, leaving him unable to continue the work he has dedicated his life to restoring cars and serving his communities.
For decades, Mr. Peacemaker has given generously of himself - whether it was fixing a car for someone who couldn't afford to pay right away, volunteering his time fixing the fairground in Chatham County, so children would have safe place to go and enjoy themselves, or just being a dependable neighbor helping people in need. Now, he needs our financial support. Mr. Peacemaker is not sure how long he will be out of work. In the meantime, he has lost the very place that allowed him to provide for his family and give back to the communities he loves.
Now, the communities have the opportunity to give back to him. Together, we can help Mr. Peacemaker rebuild, recover, and continue his legacy of hard work, kindness and craftsmanship. Any amount will be appreciated!
