Mr. Peter Nosiama, one of our tribe's cultural preservation pioneers and the creator of Urhobo Cartoon Aunty Ruky, is in urgent need of a kidney transplant. As a teacher, he has played a vital role in keeping our language and traditions alive. For many of us, his videos were the first outside source of the Urhobo language, and he has always tried to organize group classes to help us learn and connect with our roots. Our inevitable fear of our elders leaving this earth without passing the language down continuously approaches, and Mr. Nosiama's work has been a beacon of hope for our community.
Recently, Mr. Nosiama's health has significantly declined. His wife is now responding from his phone, and it is from her that this request is coming from. With her permission, I've started this GoFundMe. He previously did not want me to share his situation, but he changed his mind earlier this week, understanding how much support he needs. The funds raised here will go directly toward covering the operation for his kidney transplant, giving him a chance to recover and return to his family.
Please consider donating, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping Mr. Nosiama in your thoughts and prayers. Your support can make a real difference for him, his family, and for the future of our language and culture. Thank you for standing with us in this critical moment.
