I’m Mrs. Coco, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for Mr. John and his family during a very difficult time.
For nearly 16 years, Mr. John has been so much more than a custodian at our preschool. He has become part of the heart of our school family. Year after year, he learns the names of our 130+ children and even remembers their siblings. He watches over the parking lot, keeps an eye on our children, helps our teachers, cleans up the messes no one else wants to tackle, fixes what needs fixing, and quietly steps in wherever he is needed. There truly is not much that happens around our preschool that Mr. John has not had a hand in.
Right now, Mr. John is in the hospital and is expected to be unable to work for at least the next 6 to 12 weeks. For someone who loves being at the preschool every day, this time away is especially hard. He has spent so many years taking care of all of us, and now he needs his community to surround him with that same care.
Donations will help cover lost income during his time off and hospital bills while he focuses on getting stronger. At home, his wife is caring for her father, caring for Mr. John, and dealing with health issues of her own, so this support would help ease some of the pressure on their family during an already heavy season.
Many of our preschool families have already asked how they can help, and this is one way to show up for someone who has faithfully shown up for our children, teachers, and church for so many years.
