Support Mr. G's Recovery and Family

Tony Giraldez, or "Mr. G.", as 20 years worth of Gulliver students have called him, had to be hospitalized last month for damage to his kidneys, a side-effect of a medication he has taken for decades to help manage his Crohn's Disease. After eighteen days in the hospital, Mr. G. is finally back home and his condition continues to improve. However, the family now faces the challenge of hospital bills, coupled with the struggle of Carmen, Mr. G's wife, having to take a leave from work in order to care for him. It would be wonderful if, as a community, we could ease the family's financial burden in order to allow them to focus solely on Mr. G.'s recovery and getting him back to what he loves most- being in the classroom, surrounded by his students.
This beloved Gulliver family has been part of the community for the last 25 years. Carmen Giraldez was one of the first teachers hired for the then-new Gulliver Pinecrest campus. When Victor, their first child was born, the attending nurse was a Gulliver parent who held her phone to the crying new baby boy so that a gathered group of Gulliver staff would be the first ones to hear him cry, aside from his own parents! When Isabella, their second child was born, Carmen decided to step away from full-time teaching, and that is when Mr. G. joined the EDGE program in her place. Victor graduated from Gulliver last year and is a college freshman, and Isabella is a Senior at the Upper School this year. This is a family who has "bleeds blue" from the beginning, and our community's support will make an impactful difference, the way they have impacted hundreds of Gulliver families over the years!
