Dear Friends and Family,
I'm writing to share a personal story and to ask for your help in raising funds for a life-saving kidney transplant of a very close friend of ours.
As many of you know, Mr. Del has been battling kidney disease since September 2019. Despite the best efforts of his medical team with four-and half-hour dialysis treatments three times a week, his condition has worsened to end-stage renal failure, and he is now in need of a kidney transplant.
The good news is he's on the kidney transplant list! His medical journey has been incredibly challenging and has included a minor cerebral stroke, a three-month hospital stay due to medical illness with several surgeries and physical rehab, a mild myocardial infarction, and countless appointments and procedures, but he remains hopeful that with a transplant, he'll regain his health and return to living a fuller life.
Unfortunately, the costs associated with this procedure will reach beyond his financial ability. While his insurance will cover a large portion of the expenses, there's still significant out-of-pocket costs that he must cover, including additional surgeries, post-operative care, medications, travel, missed employment, and other related expenses.
With the help of your support, we're reaching out to friends and family to help him raise the necessary funds. My goal is to raise $15,000 to help cover these expenses. I understand that this is a large request, and any contribution, no matter how small, will make a tremendous difference in his journey toward receiving a kidney transplant.
Additionally, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share his story with others who might be willing to contribute or offer support in any way. Mr. Del has been and continues to be an integral part of Moody Air Force Base and its Youth Center activities. Despite his current medical condition, he continues to devote his time to our kids and the surrounding communities. He is one of the kindest, most compassionate human beings you'll ever meet. A definition of a servant leader!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and be part of his journey. Your generosity and kindness mean more to him than words can express, and with your help, I believe he can overcome this challenge and move forward with renewed health and hope for the future.
With gratitude,
Team Geers and “Mistah” Del Philpot
